Greg Payne is the President and Principal Consultant at Emerging Market Enterprises, LLC. Greg has over twelve years of consulting and operational experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, and is a highly-experienced practitioner in the fields of strategy, change management, and social entrepreneurship. He recently spent three years living in Bogotá, Colombia, where he worked directly with entrepreneurs, small business owners, and fund managers on challenges ranging from market entry to pricing strategy to portfolio management. From his experience as a management consultant with IBM and Booz Allen Hamilton, Greg brings practical expertise in guiding executives and managers of large organizations through initiatives related to program management, business planning, enterprise architecture, and change management. Greg is an expert on the diverse set of traditional and emerging funding mechanisms available to mission-oriented enterprises, to include grants, equity, and outcomes-based financing (pay-for-success (PFS)). He holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Social Entrepreneurship from Duke University where he was a University Scholar, Lead Fellow at the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE), and Fellow for the Initiative on Impact Investing (i3). He earned a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia, where he graduated summa cum laude in recognition of his ethnographic research and resulting thesis investigating health access issues in peri-urban Bolivia. Greg is fluent in English and Spanish, is a proud AmeriCorps alum, and enjoys soccer, cooking, and travel.
